Royal Enfield announces new CEO



It is learnt from the The Hindu news that the Royal Enfield now has Mr. B. Govindarajan as the new Chief Executive Officer in place of  Dr. Venki Padmanabhan who now takes over as the Head of New Initiatives for Eicher Motors (The parent company of which Royal Enfield is a unit now since 1994).

With an initial installed capacity of 1.5 lakh units per annum by March, 2013, Royal Enfield is now wishing to start its new plant soon at Oragadam, near Chennai. Managing Director Mr Siddhartha Lal  said earlier, “We will completely shift vehicle production in a phased manner to the new plant. Our plan is to utilise the old plant for developing and producing engines for the bikes, adding that engine manufacturing capacity will also be increased to 1.5 lakh units annually from 70,000 units at present.
